How wide can an aluminum folding door span?

Up to 144" wide, full view, in multi-panel configurations. Most patio openings come in at 8–12 feet.

What's a thermal break and why does it matter?

Aluminum conducts cold from outside to inside without a thermal break. A polyamide strip inside the profile separates inner and outer skins so cold doesn't transfer. Without it, you'd get condensation, ice in winter, and energy loss.

Will the multi-point lock work with my smart lock?

Yes — most major smart-lock systems (Schlage, Yale, August) have compatible upgrade kits for multi-point hardware. Confirm in your quote.

How does aluminum compare to wood or fiberglass for energy?

Modern thermally broken aluminum competes with fiberglass on U-factor (~0.32 vs. ~0.30) and well outperforms non-broken steel.

Can these doors be hurricane-rated?

Yes — we sell Miami-Dade-approved DP50 and DP60 systems on special order.

How are the panels installed?

As a system — we strongly recommend professional installation. HCO doesn't install, but our showroom can connect you with independent installers experienced with these systems.
